About me

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor, qualified for over 10 years, working in private practice. I, also work with independent Occupational Health/EAP Companies and have lots of experience within the Voluntary Sector. I have 16 years experience as the Human Resource Manager in a high school and it is here I set up the existing school counselling service for Children & Young People.
At present I am offering video online or telephone appointments only which is very popular with clients who are unable to travel, have physical impairments or who work long hours and find the flexibility of evening appointments preferable.
You may find yourself looking for a counsellor for a variety of reasons. When life presents its many challenges it can be difficult to share our most personal thoughts and feelings with the people we are closest to. As an experienced counsellor I can provide the space and time within a peaceful setting to listen to you without judgement or criticism, helping you to make sense of inner turmoil or unrest.
I am an integrative therapist which means that although predominantly Person Centred, I can use a variety of different therapeutic models and theories which include: Person-Centred, CBT, Brief Solution Focused, Psychodynamic and over the years I have incorporated other theoretical models into my work. I have experience in short term and long term therapy to suit client needs.
I see clients of all ages from 12 years with no upper age limit. Please email me for further information at: counsellingmatterslloyd@gmail.com
The professional relationship between the counsellor and client is fundamental to the counselling process. You will need to be able to trust and feel safe with me in order to talk freely. During the first session we will discuss; how the process works, determine whether counselling is appropriate for you, or whether you need specialist or alternative intervention. By the end of the assessment within this initial session we will be in a better position to decide how you wish to proceed.
