About me

Mr Anele Ebizie graduated from University of Nigeria Medical School in 1978 and came to the United Kingdom in 1984 to continue his specialist training. He qualified to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd.) in 1985. His higher surgical training in Orthopaedic Surgery was in The North West and Yorkshire regions. In 1995 he qualified and was awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery FRCS(Orth) of the Royal Colleges.
His name is included in the specialist register of the GMC (General Medical Council).
He was appointed as a full time Consultant in Tameside General Hospital in Greater Manchester in 1996. He served as Lead Educational Consultant for the Orthopaedic Department from 1996 to 1999 and as Clinical Director of the Orthopaedic Division with management responsibilities from November 1999 to October 2002 and again from 2014 to 2016.
He has an active teaching programme in his NHS practice. He is am involved in both the undergraduate teaching of medical students from the Manchester Medical School doing their Special Study modules and the postgraduate teaching of orthopaedic trainees.
He has had several publications in journals and made presentations to learned societies.
He has a full General Orthopaedic practice including hip and knee joint replacements and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and ankle. His area of special interests is in Foot and Ankle Surgery. His workload comprises both General Practitioner referrals and tertiary referrals from Consultant colleagues. He deals with problems in the foot and ankle due to deformity, joint degeneration and injury. A significant proportion of the injuries being sports related. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle surgery society (BOFAS).
His other areas of special interest are Paediatric Orthopaedics and complex reconstructive lower limb trauma. He provides the paediatric orthopaedic service for Tameside area and is member of the Multidisciplinary Team for diabetic foot problems at Tameside Hospital. In Lower limb reconstruction he has particular expertise in ankle ligament reconstruction.
He has had an established private practice since 1996
