About me
Dr Lucy Mills is a an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with more than 20 years of practice experience. Lucy worked in the NHS from 2004 to 2022. She now works part-time in private practice in Margate, alongside a part-time role training Clinical Psychologists at Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University.
In individual therapy, I tend to draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR. This broadly means that I will support you to think about how your past experiences have affected how you are responding to things which happen to you now, and how you might be able to find ways to respond differently now, having understood and processed your past.
I also use a systemically informed approach with all my clients. This means I will think about your difficulties in the context of your family and relationship history as well as how you respond to each other and why. I will also attend to your wider context, including thinking about any issues of power and difference.
