About me

I am available for face to face, phone and virtual appointments.

I believe that people are more than any diagnosis they may have been given; that we all, sometimes with help and support, can move beyond our perceived limitations to live a life worth living, whatever that may be; and I believe that working with a trained professional can be illuminating, challenging and even life changing.

I've worked in the field of mental health since 1994, when I began my clinical psychology doctorate. I have worked across the age range, spending fifteen years in child and adolescent mental health services within the NHS, fulfilling roles such as supervisor, line manager, DBT lead and team lead. I worked with both adults and young people in child and family courts for many years as an expert witness and now have a private practice where I work primarily with older adolescents and adults. I have been developing interests in the field of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as well as continuing to develop my interest, following completion of intensive training, in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as a way of moving beyond traditional CBT/psychotherapeutic approaches. I also have a very strong interest in the the application of mental health approaches and treatments in green spaces and the use of nature as a 'third person' in a therapeutic relationship; I am also a qualified Hill and Moorland leader with the Mountain Training Association. As an additional approach, I am currently undergoing further training as a European Mentoring and Coaching Council accreditable coach. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you!

Areas of interest

I work with teens and adults. Mood difficulties; habit difficulties; difficulties where a prevailing theme is 'I know how to challenge my thoughts, but I don't feel any better"; relationship problems; identity problems; exploration of personal difficulties; anxiety issues.
