About me

Dr Thomas is a Consultant Allergist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, home to one of the UK's largest Allergy Departments. He also holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. With over a decade of experience in the field, he specialises in the full spectrum of allergy care.

He has extensive clinical experience managing a broad spectrum of allergic conditions, including anaphylaxis, food and drug allergies, hay fever (allergic rhinitis), latex and venom allergies, urticaria (hives), angioedema (swelling), asthma, and eczema. In addition, Dr Thomas undertakes highly specialised procedures including assessments for general anaesthetic allergy, drug and food challenge testing, and allergen immunotherapy (desensitisation). He treats both adult patients and adolescents aged 16 and above.

Dr Thomas earned his medical degree in 2006 and completed the Academic Core Medical Training Programme through the Wales Deanery. He was awarded a prestigious NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Allergy and completed specialist training at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London - the UK's largest adult allergy department. He has also passed the European (EAACI/UEMS) Knowledge Exam in Allergology and Clinical Immunology, a qualification held by only a select group of UK consultants.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Thomas has a strong background in both laboratory and clinical research. He holds a master's degree and a PhD in Immunology. He is a published author in areas including basic immunology, food and drug allergy, and telemedicine. Actively involved in education, he teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, holds a postgraduate diploma in medical education, and serves as a named clinical and educational supervisor for Allergy Specialty Registrars. Nationally, he serves as the Lead Examiner for the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Certificate Examination administered by the Royal College of Pathologists.

Dr Thomas is a member of several professional bodies, including the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the World Allergy Organization, the Anaphylaxis Campaign, the Royal College of Physicians of London, and the Hellenic Society of Immunology.
