About me
Dr. Karim Hussain is a Senior Consultant Oral and MaxilloFacial Surgeon/Head and Neck Surgeon at King's College, London.
Before gaining specialist training in Oral and Facial surgery, Dr. Karim Hussain undertook a wide range of instruction in related medical fields in order to obtain a broad foundation for his work. After earning his dental and medical doctorates, he first completed five years of training in plastic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery and emergency medicine. He then completed specialty training in surgery of the mouth, jaws, face, salivary glands and neck. He gained additional experience in the U.S., France, Germany, India and China.
Dr. Karim Hussain has published many original scientific articles, written textbook chapters, and designed learning modules in the field of oral and facial surgery. These have been published in prestigious scientific journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Journal of Surgery, Journal of Trauma, Annals of Oncology, Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England etc.
He holds Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and uniquely for for for his specialty, of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
He has been a Senior Examiner for the Specialist Examination in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Ireland.
As Chairman of Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Tumour Board at Guys Hospital in which his leadership was widely recognized as outstanding.
When Chairman of Research Ethics Committee Bexley Health Authority, he fundamentally changed the training of its members and process, ensuring high quality of outcomes.
In recognition of the quality of his work, the NHS Trust awarded him several Clinical Excellence Awards over the years, and he also received the Norman Rowe Clinical Research Prize in 1997.

Dr. Karim Hussain diagnoses and treats conditions affecting the mouth, teeth, gums, jaws, salivary glands, face, neck and other related facial structures, including , tumours , facial deformity and facial injuries.
Surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth alleviate symptoms, infections and prevent damage to adjacent teeth.
Oral surgery may be required to diagnose or treat injuries and diseases in the mouth. Biopsies can determine the presence of oral cancer or tumors, which may then be surgically removed (excised).
Surgery of the jaws can correct jaw alignment problems, TMJ, malocclusion ("bad bite") or other problems. The two-fold goal is to treat the problem and achieve the most aesthetically pleasing result possible.
