About me

Mr Bhamy H Shenoy is a Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, a position he has held since 2018. He serves as the College Tutor, responsible for the supervision, mentoring, and educational development of all resident doctors at the hospital.

Mr Shenoy completed his medical education in Mangalore, India (2006), followed by a Master's in Ophthalmology (MS) from Mysore. He then undertook a prestigious two-year clinical fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, and Neuro-ophthalmology at the world-renowned LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India. After a brief tenure as a Consultant at LVPEI, he relocated to the UK in 2014.

In the UK, Mr Shenoy pursued further sub-specialty training, completing a Fellowship Diploma in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He also underwent comprehensive specialist training in adult cataract surgery and general ophthalmology, along with two additional fellowships in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

He has extensive clinical expertise in managing a wide spectrum of paediatric eye conditions including congenital and developmental cataracts, paediatric glaucoma, complex strabismus (with or without adjustable sutures and botulinum toxin), paediatric corneal and external diseases, keratoconus, congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and genetic and retinal disorders. Mr Shenoy is particularly skilled in fornix-based small incision squint surgery for both children and adults, and is also a proficient cataract surgeon with experience in both routine and complex cases, including micro-incision cataract surgery.

An active educator and trainer, Mr Shenoy teaches medical students, optometrists, junior doctors, and paediatric ophthalmology fellows. In recognition of his contributions to training, he was awarded the Best Clinical Supervisor and Surgical Trainer accolade by trainees at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 2022.

He is actively involved in research and academic contributions, having published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and conducted workshops, including at the annual meeting of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS).
