About me

Mr Massanova was appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon at Southend University Hospital in April 2021 to implement the service of robotic surgery for patients suffering from prostate and bladder cancer and he is currently the Lead of the Urology Robotic Service in his Trust. He qualified from University of Naples Federico II, Naples (IT) and trained in and around leading hospitals in the South and North of Italy. He embarked on a 12 month international fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital of Glasgow, UK specialising in Robotic urological surgery and has done clinical visits to leading robotic centres in Europe and the UK. He has a specialist interest in uro-oncology focusing on minimally invasive techniques for the surgical treatment of Urological Cancers, in particular prostate and bladder cancer. To date he has experience of approximately 500 cases as main surgeon and has also recognised experience in teaching and training. He has also being appointed as Prostate Cancer Clinical Champion by the known charity organisation ProstateCancerUK to improve care and treatment for men suffering with prostate cancer.
Mr Massanova also specialises in general urological conditions including benign prostatic enlargement (BPH), andrology, erectile dysfunction, urological stone disease, urinary tract infections (UTI’s), haematuria (blood in the urine), raised PSA, diagnostics for prostate cancer including transperineal prostate biopsy under local anaesthetics, inguinal and scrotal surgery including vasectomy, surgery of the genitalia including circumcision and frenuloplasty.
