About me

I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Professor of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Infection at St George's University Hospital and St George's University of London. I see patients privately at Parkside (53, Parkside SW19 5NX). I am fully registered with the GMC and have specialist certification in Gastroenterology and General internal Medicine.

I trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital and was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship gaining my PhD in the field of gut immunology and GI infection. I have an international reputation for my research in the field of inflammatory bowel disease epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. I have >200 peer reviewed research publications.

My clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, chronic diarrhoea, gut infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional GI disorders, indigestion & heartburn and family screening for bowel cancer. I am an experienced endoscopist and have performed many thousand colonoscopies and gastroscopies.
