About me

I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist and am Professor of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Infection at St George's University Hospital and St George's University of London. I see patients privately at Parkside Hospital, SW19 5NX. I am fully registered with the GMC and have specialist certification in Gastroenterology and General internal Medicine.

I trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital and was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship gaining my PhD in the field of gut immunology and GI infection. I have an international reputation for my research in the field of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) diagnosis and treatment. I have more than 200 peer reviewed research publications in the field of Gastroenterology.

My clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, chronic diarrhoea, gut infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional gut disorders, indigestion & heartburn and screening for bowel cancer. I am an experienced endoscopist and have performed many thousand colonoscopies and gastroscopies.
