About me
Dr. Paraskevi Theocharis is a Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist with over 12 years of experience in the diagnosis of paediatric heart conditions. Dr. Theocharis is an expert in the use of advanced cardiac imaging including deformational imaging, structural echocardiography, Transoesophageal echocardiogram to guide interventionists and congenital cardiac surgeons to achieve optimal results. She has extensive experience in a wide range of patients experiencing symptoms in the POTS spectrum (Presyncope/syncope, palpitations, dizziness, fainting). She was the first cardiologist to describe the Multi-inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID - 19 (MIS-C) in children.
She is the lead cardio � oncology consultant of the Trust, managing the Marsden paediatric oncology patients from the cardiac perspective.
Dr. Theocharis provides extended outpatient consultations for the majority of heart problems in children including heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, valve disease, pulmonary hypertension, POTS, syncope/presyncope, endothelial disease. She is also a member of the Multidisciplinary Kawasaki team and the recently described Multi Inflammatory syndrome at ELCH which is unique in the country and leading in the cardiology section of it. Dr. Theocharis is also a keen researcher, and her extensive scientific background supports her to provide up-to-date, evidence-based care and management to your children. Her scientific background enables her to provide up-to-date, evidence-based care and management to her patients.
Dr. Theocharis specialized in Paediatrics and obtained her Ph.D. in Greece, followed by her extensive Paediatric Cardiology training in the UK. Her interest in research began early on in her career and, resulting in her publishing numerous articles and book chapters in paediatric cardiology, echocardiography, early stages of atherosclerosis from childhood, pulmonary hypertension, MIS-C and neonatology.
The practice is based at The Portland Hospital and at Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH), one of the leading centers for Paediatric Cardiology in Europe since 2017.
