About me

I have been a Consultant Hip and Knee Surgeon for over 21 years, specialising in joint replacement surgery and the treatment of hip and knee conditions. I work across both NHS and private practice in Derbyshire and am committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care.
I completed my preclinical medical training at the University of Oxford and my clinical training at the University of Cambridge. Following this, I undertook orthopaedic training in Nottingham and Derby before completing an advanced fellowship in hip and knee surgery in Perth, Western Australia, where I gained extensive experience in complex joint replacement procedures.
Today, I perform more than 350 hip and knee replacements each year, including both primary and revision joint replacement surgery. My practice covers a wide range of hip and knee disorders, from arthritis and sports injuries to complex reconstruction and revision procedures. I also have a particular interest in treating younger, active patients, including hip resurfacing and durable joint replacement solutions designed to support long-term mobility.
I was involved in developing Derby's enhanced recovery programme, helping to introduce muscle-sparing surgical techniques and modern pain management strategies that enable patients to recover more quickly and return to their daily activities sooner.
I am committed to continuously monitoring and improving outcomes. Every joint replacement I perform is submitted to the National Joint Registry (NJR), and I am proud to be ranked among the top 5% of UK surgeons for low revision rates, reflecting the quality and longevity of the joint replacements I undertake.
My approach is based on clear communication, careful assessment and personalised treatment planning. Whether a patient requires a straightforward joint replacement or a more complex revision procedure, my aim is always to reduce pain, restore function and help them return to the activities that matter most to them.
