About me
Arman is a consultant in trauma and orthopaedics at Cambridge University Hospitals. Having completed his higher surgical training on the Cambridge rotation, he completed further fellowship training at the Fortius clinic in London, Oxford University Hospitals, and Leeds Teaching Hospitals. During this time, he was trained in the management of sports injuries in elite athletes, cartilage regenerative procedures, individualised alignment knee replacement, partial knee replacement as well as revision (re-do) surgery in cases of failed operations.
He was also awarded a travelling fellowship funded by the British Orthopaedic Association to visit medical centres in Chicago and Philadelphia (Rothman Institute). His clinical specialist interest is in knee surgery, sports and arthroplasty. He is passionate about the role of personalised knee surgery in improving the outcomes of operations for patients.
Mr Arman Memarzadeh is a highly regarded consultant knee surgeon based in Cambridge, practising at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital and Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
He graduated with an MBBS from the University of East Anglia in 2009 and went on to achieve an MD from Anglia Ruskin University, as well as the FRCS (Tr & Orth). He completed his higher surgical training on the Cambridge rotation before undertaking advanced fellowship training at the Fortius Clinic in London, Oxford University Hospitals, and Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
His specialist expertise includes knee replacement surgery, arthroplasty, sports knee injuries, knee osteoarthritis, knee osteotomy, ACL reconstruction, and knee fractures. He is also highly experienced in cartilage regenerative procedures, partial knee replacement, revision (re-do) knee surgery, and robotic-assisted surgery.
Mr Memarzadeh is one of only a handful of surgeons in the East of England to offer personalised, or individualised alignment, knee replacement. This modern technique uses robotics to tailor the procedure precisely to each patient's anatomy, creating a more balanced knee and improved functional outcomes.
He was awarded a travelling fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association to visit leading orthopaedic centres in Chicago and Philadelphia (Rothman Institute). His dedication and contribution to orthopaedics have been recognised through multiple awards, including the Trinity Cup for the most accomplished trainee, Cambridge Trainee of the Year, and a research grant from Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust. His ongoing research explores how pre-operative muscle strength influences outcomes following hip arthroscopy.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Memarzadeh is an active educator. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Cambridge and is permanent faculty on several national orthopaedic courses, including the ORUK Cambridge Basic Sciences Course. He has also published numerous peer-reviewed articles in leading medical journals.
Outside of medicine, Arman enjoys spending time with his three children and following and occasionally playing a variety of sports.
