About me
Mr Hassaan is a Consultant ENT surgeon with over 20 years’ of surgical experience. He manages the full range of general ENT problems in the clinical and theatre setting, treating both adults and children at his clinics in London and Essex. He has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 2013.
He is an expert in the management of patients with sleep disturbed breathing, snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and gained his Masters’ Degree from Imperial College, London where his focus was on surgical technology and robotic surgery for OSA. His higher surgical training was at some of the most prestigious London teaching hospitals including The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, UCLH, The Royal Free, Chelsea and Westminster and Charing Cross Hospitals.
He provides tertiary care for patients with OSA, initially at University College London Hospital before becoming the lead for Sleep Surgery at Queens University Hospital in East London in 2019. He is commonly referred patients from all over London and indeed the UK.
His interest in the management of sleep disturbed breathing and OSA has made him an active and progressive researcher in the field of sleep medicine and surgery with a number of well cited publications. He collaborates with other sleep professionals around the world, to continually improve patient outcomes and care. He organises courses for doctors across the ENT discipline, regularly lectures on snoring and OSA and is a honorary senior lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University Medical School.
Mr Hassaan has a strong commitment to patient centred care, engaging patients in an approachable manner, with jargon free consultations. Patients often feel listened to and that they have understood what their problem is and how best to manage it.
Being of Egyptian origin and raised in the East of England he is fluent in both English and Arabic languages.
