About me

Dr Emma Salisbury was appointed Consultant Nephrologist at Imperial College Renal & Transplant Centre, Hammersmith Hospital, London in 2016. She is experienced in all aspects of general nephrology: haematuria, proteinuria, hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR), renovascular disease); as well as chronic kidney disease, dialysis and kidney transplantation. Her particular interest is Young Adult Care. She established strong links with Great Ormond Street & the Evelina Children's Hospitals before setting up Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's Renal Young Adult Service to support 16-25yr old patients on the journey from paediatric to adult services.

Dr Salisbury qualified in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB) with Honours from the University of Edinburgh in 2004, having achieved a BSC in Immunology with First Class Honours in 2001. She became a member of the Royal Royal College of Physicians in 2007 & completed her Specialty Certificate in Nephrology in 2016. In the intervening years, she completed 3 years of research in transplant immunology and was awarded a PhD by Imperial College London in 2013. She was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2023.

All Dr Salisbury's nephrology training was completed in London where she is now lives with her husband and four children.

In 2025, Dr Salisbury was fortunate enough to inherit a large private practice from a much-admired, retiring colleague. She has taken a sabbatical from her NHS work to focus on establishing herself in Private Practice.
