About me

I am a Professor of Plastic and Hand Surgery with over 15 years of specialty experience. I am fully trained in Cosmetic Surgery, including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift / mastopexy, male breast reduction / gynaecomastia surgery, mastectomy (gender surgery), weight loss surgery, body contouring / liposuction, abdominoplasty, thigh lift, arm reduction / brachioplasty, prominent ear correction / pinnaplasty, split earlobe, labiaplasty.

My sub-specialty Hand Surgery practice within the NHS and private sector involves caring for patients with arthritis of the the hand, fingers and thumb. I offer steroid injections for joint pain and denervation and joint replacement / arthroplasty surgery. Other hand surgery conditions that I regularly treat patients for include Dupuytren's disease, trigger finger, ganglion, mucus cyst, DeQuervain's tenosynovitis, nerve compression (median nerve, carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve, cubital tunnel, Guyon's canal, radial nerve), hand trauma (fractures, tendon injuries, ligament injuries) and I also perform tendon reconstruction surgery.

I am a Consultant at St Andrew's Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, one of the largest specialist centres in Europe.

I studied medicine at University College London, during which time I also completed a BSc. After completing a Plastic Surgery PhD, I ranked first place in the Plastic Surgery national recruitment process and was awarded a London training program. I undertook my Plastic Surgery training at prestigious university-associated teaching hospitals in London (including UCH, Royal Free, Chelsea & Westminster, St Mary's Paddington). After being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plast), I completed two Aesthetic fellowships at leading international Cosmetic Surgery institutions (Wellington Hospital, London Clinic, King Edward VII) and 2 prestigious Hand Surgery fellowships (Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Chelsea & Westminster Hand Unit). I also gained further experience abroad in Australia, Europe and across the UK.

My NHS practice includes all aspects of Trauma and Elective Hand Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Skin Cancer treatment. I also treat patients who have suffered post-operative complications following Cosmetic Surgery Tourism abroad.

In addition to my busy clinical practice, I am active in Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery & Hand Surgery Research. I have over 120 peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international level. I am the author of two best-selling surgical textbooks and have over 20 academic prize awards and distinctions. I am an appointed official tutor for the BSSH British Hand Diploma (University of Manchester); this is a higher sub-specialty qualification for Plastic Surgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons wishing to undertake a career in Hand Surgery. I supervise Plastic Surgery trainees, organise and am regularly invited to participate in national and international surgical training courses, and I am a Visiting Senior Clinical Lecturer and Educational Supervisor at Anglia Ruskin University School of Medicine where I am responsible for the training of undergraduate medical students.

I welcome patient referrals from GPs and Consultant colleagues, however I also welcome patients who wish to self-refer and pay for treatment themselves.
