About me

I completed my Medical School at Charles University, Prague in 1990 and started my training in the field of General Surgery in 1991. I achieved completion of training in General Surgery in 2000. I worked at the level of a consultant at University Hospital Vinohrady in Prague 10 from 2001 till 2007 when I moved to the UK. I have been working in the UK as a consultant surgeon since November 2007 to date.

My clinical practice is primarily focused on the management of gallstones and the hernia repair, areas in which I have developed a particular interest.

My NHS practice is based at Barnsley Hospital, where I was appointed as a permanent consultant in 2014. I am currently the clinical lead for the surgical department.

Over the last three decades, my work has been dedicated to laparoscopic surgery. I have attended numerous advanced training courses, developing a high level of proficiency in minimally invasive techniques. I have performed a large number laparoscopic gallbladder surgeries as well as laparoscopic groin hernia and open abdominal wall hernia repairs both in the NHS and independent sector. I also carry out removal of lumps and bumps under local or general anaesthetics. These procedures represent my main portfolio at Spire Methley Park Hospital.

Alongside my clinical commitments, I am actively involved in surgical education. I participate in laparoscopic training courses of gallbladder and hernia surgery.

Areas of interest

Management of gallstones. I have a special interest in laparoscopic gallbladder surgery and bile duct exploration.

Groin hernia repair. I offer key hole and open repair of groin hernia. I am competent in performing both key hole techniques: through the abdomen (TAPP) or between the muscle layer and the abdominal wall (TEP).

Belly button and small abdominal wall hernia repair performed at Spire Methley Park Hospital.

I am also confident in carrying out surgery to remove lumps and bumps.
