About me
I am a consultant cardiologist, heart rhythm specialist and cardiac devices specialist. I also hold a PhD from University College London in diabetic heart disease.
My practice spans Kent (Ashford, Margate and Canterbury) and London (Kings College Hospital and London Bridge Hospital). In Kent I am lead for cardiology education and I head the cardiac electrophysiology and device audit and quality improvement programme.
I trained in cardiology and cardiac rhythm management at St George's, St Thomas', and Kings College Hospitals in London as well as Queen Elizabeth's Medical Centre in Birmingham. After my UK training I travelled to Brigham and Women's Hospital (associated with Harvard Medical School) to gain further skills in inherited cardiac disease risk stratification and management.
I am expert in all aspects of cardiac rhythm management including lifestyle modification, drug treatments and ablation procedures, which I carry out in both my Kent and London hospitals. I evaluate and treat patients with all varieties of cardiac problems in my NHS and private practices but I am one of only two electrophysiologists specialising in arrhythmia (abnormal heart beats) in East Kent.
A typical patient referred to me might have experienced palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pains, dizzy spells, blackouts, or similar symptoms.
I am also frequently referred patients with pre-existing arrhythmia diagnoses including ectopic beats, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, atrial tachycardia, SVT, supraventricular tachycardia, Wolff Parkinson White syndrome (accessory pathway) and PoTS. I am also expert in evaluating cardiac risk in asymptomatic patients, including inherited predisposition to arrhythmia and other heart disease.
