About me
Mrs Mira de Kruijf is a Consultant Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where she has worked since 2016. Her practice is dedicated exclusively to paediatric ENT, caring only for babies, children and young people with ear, nose and throat conditions. She does not treat adult patients, allowing her to focus entirely on the unique needs of children and their families.
She has extensive experience in managing both common paediatric ENT conditions and complex airway and head and neck disorders.
Her areas of expertise include recurrent tonsillitis, snoring and sleep-disordered breathing, glue ear and hearing loss, tongue tie, nasal obstruction, neck lumps, and noisy breathing in infants and children.
Alongside her clinical practice, Mrs de Kruijf is actively involved in education, research and professional leadership. She is the National Online Training Programme Director for ENT in England, a Council Member of the British Association for Paediatric Otolaryngology (BAPO), serves on the Education Committee of the European Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO), and is an examiner for the European Board Examination in Otorhinolaryngology.
Mrs de Kruijf completed a PhD in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy in 2013 and has authored seven book chapters on paediatric ENT. She is regularly invited to lecture at national and international scientific and clinical meetings.
She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each child and their family. She understands that seeing a specialist can be an anxious experience and believes that parents should feel fully informed, involved and supported throughout their child's treatment.
Areas of interest
Ear conditions: glue ear, hearing loss, grommet surgery and ear wax removal.
Nose conditions: nosebleeds, nasal cautery, nasal obstruction and hay fever.
Throat conditions: recurrent tonsillitis, snoring and sleep-disordered breathing, tonsillectomy and adenotonsillectomy, tongue tie and neck lumps.
