About me
I am a consultant in general gastroenterology, liver medicine and endoscopy at North Bristol Trust. I was awarded my PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) from the University College London for advancing research in the field of early detection of chronic liver disease and I completed my training in the North East London rotation.
I specialise in general gastroenterology and liver medicine. I perform both diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. I am an accredited endoscopy trainer. I am available for virtual consultations upon request.
I am an experienced endoscopist and have performed over 2,000 gastroscopies and 1,000 colonoscopies.
I am the departmental lead for the Royal College of Physicians Improving Quality in Liver Services (IQILS) accreditation scheme. This was a national accreditation project that involved co-ordinating a multi-professional group to assess the standard of care delivered by the service, identify both good practice and areas for improvement and then develop and implement service improvement plans. The North Bristol Liver Unit became the second unit in the country to achieve accreditation in November 2021 and we were commended for the quality of the leadership and evidence presented. Specific standards that were covered included leadership and operational delivery, person centred care, risk and patient safety, clinical effectiveness, workforce development and systems to support service delivery.
In addition to my clinical work, I am delighted to be the departmental lead for Research at the trust. I am a medical assessor for the Royal College of Physicians 'Improving Quality in Liver Disease' scheme. I visit other units and assess them against national standards.
I am also proud to have been elected onto the British Society of Gastroenterology Liver Section Committee to help develop and promote national service strategy.
I am a principal investigator and sub-investigator for a number of industry sponsored and non-commercial clinical trials for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease.
