About me

Dr Ankur Srivastava is the clinical lead for gastroenterology and Hepatology at North Bristol NHS Trust. Dr Srivastava has been a consultant since 2018 and is considered an expert in gastroenterology and hepatology, and is on a number of national bodies. He offers both face to face and virtual consultations.

Dr Srivastava delivers care in all gastroenterological conditions, and specialises in inflammatory bowel disease, funcitonal bowel disorders, SIBO and irritable bowel disease.

Dr Srivastava sub-speciliases in liver disease, and has a specilaist interest in fatty liver disesase, optimising metabolic control including weight loss in a multi-disciplinary fashion and promoting the early detection of chronic liver disease.

Dr Srivastava is an experienced and dedicated endoscopist, having performed over 2,000 gastroscopies and 1,000 colonoscopies. He is an accredited endoscopy trainer and is actively advancing new approaches.

Dr Srivastava completed his specialist training within the North East London rotation and was awarded a PhD from University College London for his research into the early detection of chronic liver disease. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and management of liver conditions alongside a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr Srivastava holds several leadership roles within his organisation. He is the clinical lead for gastroenterology and Hepatology at North Bristol NHS Trust. Prior to this, he was the departmental lead for the Royal College of Physicians Improving Quality in Liver Services (IQILS) accreditation scheme, contributing to the development and assessment of national standards in liver care. Under his leadership, the North Bristol Liver Unit achieved IQILS accreditation in 2021. He also serves as a national medical assessor for the programme. He has previously been governance lead and the research lead in the department, until taking on the clinical lead role.

Dr Srivastava is an active researcher, and is involved as a principal and sub-investigator in a number of clinical trials. He is an elected member of the British Society of Gastroenterology Liver Section Committee.
