About me

Mr Bhupal Chitnavis was brought up in West London prior to reading medicine at Guy's Hospital, London.
His formative experiences in neurosurgery came in Birmingham with the late Professor Edward Hitchcock and subsequently at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery with Professor Lindsay Symon.

He also trained at Great Ormond Street and at King's College Hospital. Whilst at Kings he was encouraged to train in vascular neurosurgery by Professor Anthony Strong and in spinal surgery. He learnt the highly sophisticated laser assisted high flow cerebral bypass techniques in Utrecht with Professor Cornelius Tulleken.

His principal interest lies in spine surgery with greater specialisation in keyhole techniques for spine surgery and more complex techniques.

Amongst the first neurosurgeons in the UK to specialise full time in spine surgery. A neurosurgeon by training and practice, he gained valuable exposure to orthopaedic spinal surgical technique with significant time spent training and learning with orthopaedic colleagues at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and further afield with Professor Jurgen Harms in Germany.

He is a sporting enthusiast and can occasionally be spotted on the cricket pitch.
