About me

Dr Sunil Dasari is a chronic pain specialist working as Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. He has vast experience of more than 20 years as an anaesthetist and his expertise lies in medication management and pain intervention injections and radiofrequency denervation for low back pain, leg pain,neck pain and major joints pain e.g. knee, hip and shoulder pain.

He is also experienced in pain management of different painful conditions like fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), chronic pain after surgery, nerve pain due to entrapment, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, diabetic neuropathic pain, visceral and pelvic pain due toendometriosis, whiplash injuries, sport injuries, and cancer pain.

Dr Dasari has expertise in doing different pain management intervention procedures like facet joints injections, medial branch block injections, sacroiliac joint injections, epidural steroid injections, trigger point injections with steroids and botox for localised pain, genicular nerve injections for knee and hip pain, nerve injections for shoulder pain, injections for groin pain, greater occipital nerve injections for headaches, injections for cancer pain and radiofrequency denervations.

Dr Dasari believes in a holistic approach in Pain Management and aim at helping to improve functionality and self management.

In addition to his clinical work, he is deputy lead for learning and a faculty tutor for the faculty of Pain Medicine of Royal college of Anaesthetists. He oversees Pain Medicine training and teaches trainees and other health care professionals on different aspects of Pain Medicine at University Hospital Of Wales, Cardiff. He is also Tutor for University of South Wales on the MSc Pain Management course. He is the Lead for the Ultrasound guided nerve injections course and honorary lecturer for Cardiff University.

He is the Chair of Welsh Pain Society and chaired the working group on writing opioid guidance. He has given presentations at National and International conferences on Pain medicine topics and has many publications.
