About me
Mr Olumide Ofinran, MBBS, FRCOG is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Gynaecological Oncology with internationally recognised expertise in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
He is a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, where he leads the Gynaecological Oncology Centre, Wolverhampton (GOCW)a tertiary referral service for Wolverhampton, Dudley, and the wider Black Country. Under his leadership, GOCW has gained recognition for timely intervention, surgical precision, and multidisciplinary excellence. He also chairs the regional Gynaecological Oncology MDT, one of only eight nationally selected for the NHS England MDT Improvement Programme, where his team has been commended for improved outcomes, structured documentation, and high-quality case discussions.
In addition to his NHS role, Mr Ofinran is the Midlands Representative for the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS) and the Founder of the Wolverhampton Institute for Research in Gynaecological Oncology (WIRGO), promoting academic collaboration and innovation in women's cancer research. He is also a BSCCP-accredited colposcopy trainer.
Committed to education and mentorship, Mr Ofinran has been formally commended by the UK Foundation Programme Director for his personalised supervision of junior doctors. In 2025, he was nominated for the Resident Doctors Award and shortlisted for Oncologist of the Year at the Black Healthcare Awards.
Beyond the NHS, he is the Founder and Clinical Director of The Esther Centre for Women's Health, a private practice across multiple West Midlands sites specialising in menstrual disorders, endometriosis, menopause, fibroids, and complex second opinions. The centre is named in honour of his late mother, Reverend Dr Fumi Esther Ofinran, whose legacy inspires his work. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee and Gynaecology Lead at Nuffield Health Wolverhampton, and in 2025 received formal recognition for over 20 years of NHS service.
Mr Ofinran's impact extends internationally as Founder of Esther Helps, a UK-based charity supporting patients in Nigeria undergoing cancer treatment who struggle with access and affordability. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Lighthouse Fellowship Ministry, Lagos, and as a School Governor at King Norton Boys' School, Birmingham, where he leads on Personal Development and Community Engagement.
