About me
Dr. Nadir is a distinguished Cardiologist trained in the United States. He is an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Birmingham and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology.
Dr. Nadir is passionate about empowering his patients by providing them with the information they need for shared decision-making. He has the unique ability to be able to communicate complex medical matters in simple terms to help his patients navigate the overwhelming information available at ease through information technology. Dr. Nadir firmly believes in the importance of building trust, effective communication, continuity of care, and developing a partnership with mutual respect to achieve the best outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Nadir graduated with honors and distinctions. He completed his medical and cardiology training in West-Midlands and Northwest England. Dr Nadir was a British Heart Foundation Fellow where he discovered new ways of identifying early signs of heart disease. His work won first prize from the Scottish Society of Physicians in 2010 and was published in leading international journals including the Journal of American College of Cardiology. He was awarded a doctorate for his thesis in 2011. Dr. Nadir was selected for an advanced fellowship in interventional and structural cardiology at the prestigious Mount Siani Hospital in New York, USA (the Top 10 best Hospitals in the US). While in the USA he was trained to perform minimally invasive heart valve repair and replacement procedures without surgery such as TAVI and MitraClip.
Dr. Nadir was appointed as a consultant interventional cardiologist in a substantive post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2017 on his return from New York. Since his appointment, he has successfully led a transcatheter valve program where selected patients can be treated without surgery.
Dr Nadir manages and treats all aspects of heart conditions with a particular focus on prevention. His areas of expertise include managing chest pains, palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, heart valve disease, angina, heart failure, and optimising heart conditions before major surgery.
