About me
Dr Mia Jing Gao MBBS MA (Cantab) MRCP is a Consultant Dermatologist with expertise in a vast range of skin and hair conditions including skin cancer, general dermatology (acne, eczema and other rashes) and alopecia.
Dr Gao studied medicine at University of Cambridge, achieving a Masters in Physiology. She studied clinical medicine at University College London, graduating with distinction amongst numerous other prizes. She ranked second nationally for competitive entry to dermatology specialist training, completing her dermatology training at expert centres including the Royal Free and Royal London Hospitals.
Dr Gao is a NHS consultant at the internationally renowned Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, where she is the the Skin Cancer Clinical Lead. Her areas of interest include early detection and management of skin cancer, dermatological surgery, hair conditions, acne and general dermatology such as eczema, psoriasis and pigmentary disorders. She runs a specialist clinic for skin issues in immunosuppressed patients.
She is an experienced dermatological surgeon with hundreds of hours of surgery logged. She performs cryotherapy, skin biopsies, cautery and curettage and skin excisions as well as the removal of benign lesions such as cysts, skin tags and warts.
Dr Gao is known to provide holistic, personalised care to suit individual needs. She is often complimented on her kind, open and approachable manner.
She has undertaken in research in fields including contact allergy, skin cancer and hair conditions. She has presented her work nationally and internationally, authored a chapter in a dermatology textbook and continues to publish her work in medical journals. She believes in bringing up-to-date scientific knowledge to her work to achieve the best outcomes.
Dr Gao is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), British Society for Dermatological Surgery, Royal Society of Medicine, St John’s Dermatology society and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and UK Dermatology clinical trials network (UKDCTN).
