About me
Alex is a consultant anaesthetist at Wexham Park and Heatherwood Hospitals. He regularly anaesthetises adults and children for planned and emergency orthopaedic, plastic and general surgery. He has completed advanced training in regional anaesthesia and difficult airway management.
Alex is experienced in the use of total intravenous anaesthesia which in contrast to traditional anaesthetic techniques has a very low risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting and a faster recovery from anaesthesia.
He can offer many patients the choice between general and regional anaesthesia (which is usually combined with sedation to ensure that patients have a pleasant and relaxing anaesthetic). Skilled in the use of ultrasound for intravenous cannulation, Alex finds this very helpful for patients who have experienced difficulty with this in the past.
Alex qualified in medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, graduating with Distinction. During his medical studies he also completed a BSc in Physiology at University College London, receiving first class Honours. Alex then worked at St Thomas’ Hospital in London for two years before entering anaesthetic training. He remained in London for two years before moving to the Oxford region for his final five years of anaesthetic training.
He was proud to be awarded the Nuffield Medal for success in the Primary FRCA examination followed by Distinction in the FRCA overall. These are prestigious honours awarded to a very small number of candidates.
Alex lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife and young family.
