Short biography
I am a Coronary, TAVI and Structural, Interventional Cardiologist, at the Royal Brompton & Harefield and St Thomas' Hospitals. My training has been in prestigious institutions, including the Universities of Birmingham, and Oxford, and Milano (Prof. Antonio Colombo). I have worked in the US, as a senior TAVI proctor having previously served as the Lead for Transcatheter/Structural Heart Interventions at the Heart and Lung Centre, New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. I was heavily involved in pioneering techniques in Heart valve interventions.
Since 2008, I have been at the forefront of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), establishing one of the first TAVI centres in the UK. My experience includes having successfully performed over 3000 TAVI cases, using various approaches including trans-femoral, subclavian, direct aortic, and trans-carotid. I have also been involved in developing valve techniques. I performed the first reported combined percutaneous TAVI and EVAR procedures.
I have trained numerous cardiologists in TAVI procedures both Nationally and Internationally and am recognised as an expert in the field internationally and regularly and invited member as faculty to major conferences.
Other structural interventions I undertake include:
Day case PFO device closure, under ICE guidance,
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
paravalvular leak closures using Vascular plugs (mitral and Aortic),
post infarct VSD closures
LAAO closure.
Mitral TEER/TV TEER
More recently established and led the mitral/tricuspid Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair program and LAAO closure.

Special/ research interests
My work extends beyond patient care. I currently hold an Associate Professorship, at the University of Birmingham, and have been actively engaged in clinical research, with several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
