About me

Dr Mason has extensive experience in managing patients with coronary artery disease, valvular disease, heart failure, and managing patients who require or already have a pacemaker or defibrillator.

He has considerable experience in coronary angioplasty and stenting (PCI), including having played a significant role in developing the primary angioplasty service at Harefield from its inception in 2004.

He has extensive expertise in implanting pacemakers and ICDs, with a particular interest in Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy or Biventricular Pacing (CRT). He has wide experience in pacemaker and ICD extraction, including the use of laser lead extraction, and was a Specialist Advisor to NICE in this area.

He has extensive experience in managing patients with heart conditions such as:

coronary artery disease
mitral valve disease
heart failure
He is an expert in a number of cardiac treatments and procedures including:

cardiac resynchronisation therapy (also called 'biventricular pacing')
implanting pacemakers
implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)
pacemaker and ICD extraction, including the use of laser lead extraction
In addition, he has a keen interest in sports cardiology, including screening for the risks associated with participation in endurance sport, particularly in older athletes.
