About me
Dr Richard Bowskill has been a Consultant Psychiatrist since 1996. He works at The Montefiore Hospital Brighton and Hove as a Consultant Psychiatrist and is Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He was previously Clinical Director of one of the local Mental Health Trusts and was also Deputy Head of the Post Graduate Medical School.
His clinical and research interests are in the fields of Depression and Bipolar Affective Disorder. He has recently been awarded a significant research for patients benefit grant to investigate how patients with Bipolar Affective Disorder obtain information about their condition.
Dr Richard Bowskill read Medicine at Cambridge University where he also obtained a Masters Degree in Experimental Psychology. He completed his training at Guy’s Hospital in London, where his interests in Psychiatry developed. He then went on to complete membership of the Royal College of Physicians and member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
During his training, he worked for two years at the national unit for Affective disorders at the Maudsley Hospital, where he developed his interest in the treatment of depression.
