About me

Dr Harrington has worked as a Consultant Cardiologist for MTW NHS Trust since 2000. He studied medicine at King’s College Hospital and trained in Cardiology at St Thomas’, St George’s and Royal Brompton hospitals. He was awarded an MD in 1999 having worked at the National Heart and Lung institute researching cardiac failure and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2004.

Dr Harrington is an experienced general cardiologist caring for in-patients and out-patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions including heart failure, chest pains, atrial fibrillation and hypertension. His subspecialist interest is in interventional cardiology providing invasive investigation and coronary stent procedures for patients with chest pains and heart attacks. Dr Harrington also leads the Tunbridge Wells Rapid Access heart failure service and provides local support for patients with congenital heart disease.

He is the Trust lead for Medical appraisal and revalidation.

Dr Harrington has a keen interest in medical education, between 2002 and 2009 he was sub-dean for King’s College London medical school and between 2006 and 2019 Royal College of Physicians Tutor for Tunbridge Wells hospital. He is a training programme director for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Cardiology Training programme training Consultant Cardiologists of the future.

In 2016 he was elected as a Vice President and Trustee of the British Cardiovascular Society.
