About me
I am a Counselling Psychologist with over twenty years’ experience of working in the NHS, including several years as a Principal Psychologist and manager of a Psychological Therapies service.
My approach to psychological therapy is to tailor an individual approach based on the needs of the individual client. In the initial sessions I will ask about your current difficulties, history and any previous treatments. I will then provide you with a psychologically informed understanding often called a ‘formulation’. This can help to make sense of the difficulties you are experiencing and inform which therapeutic approach could be most helpful to you. Sometimes an integrative approach can be helpful, which combines practice or techniques from different therapies.
I work at all times within the ethical guidelines of the HCPC and BPS and can assure you of a safe, secure and confidential service.
Areas of interest
Further to my initial training I have additional qualifications and experience in providing psychodynamic therapy, EMDR and mentalization based therapy (MBT). I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.
I have experience working with clients with a range of difficulties including but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, CPTSD, eating disorders, sleep difficulties, addictions, relationship difficulties, dissociative disorders. mood disorders and complex emotional difficulties.
