About me

Dr Simon Taggart has been a dual accredited Consultant Chest & General Physician since 2000. He also was the Lead Lung Cancer Clinician for Salford and Chair of the Northwest Sector MDT for Lung Cancer until 2018.

Dr Taggart has previous extensive experience in the care of acutely unwell patients when on-call for medicine at Salford and also care for patients on the Medical High Dependency Unit. As such he has wide experience in the field of general medicine and specialist respiratory medicine.

Dr Taggart has published an MD thesis on Asthma: Pollution and Allergens and is the author of more than 50 peer reviewed articles and research papers. Dr Taggart also writes up to 250 medical reports relating to industrial injury and clinical negligence per year. He is a former sub-speciality tutor for Respiratory Medicine and Honorary Clinical Tutor to The University of Manchester.

At the core of Dr Taggart’s practice is a desire and willingness to communicate well and to put the patient and their wishes first. Many of his patients have multiple co-morbidities and as such he is well qualified to care for them. In his last Consultant 360 degree Appraisal (2012), all 23 patients surveyed rated their satisfaction of Dr Taggart’s service in the top category of “very good.” All 15 of his colleagues also rated him across 19 domains as either “Good” or “Excellent” in everything he does. Dr Taggart was awarded a certificate for excellence in care In July 2019 from the patient feedback organisation iWantGreat Care.
