About me
Dr Simon Taggart has been a dual accredited Consultant Chest & General Physician since 2000. He also was the Lead Lung Cancer Clinician for Salford and Chair of the Northwest Sector MDT for Lung Cancer until 2018.
Dr Taggart has previous extensive experience in the care of acutely unwell patients when on-call for medicine at Salford and also care for patients on the Medical High Dependency Unit. As such he has wide experience in the field of general medicine and specialist respiratory medicine.
Dr Taggart has published an MD thesis on Asthma: Pollution and Allergens and is the author of more than 50 peer reviewed articles and research papers. Dr Taggart also writes 150-175 medical reports relating to industrial injury and clinical negligence per year. He is a former sub-speciality tutor for Respiratory Medicine and Honorary Clinical Tutor to The University of Manchester.
At the core of Dr Taggart's practice is a desire and willingness to communicate well and to put the patient and their wishes first. Many of his patients have multiple co-morbidities and as such he is well qualified to care for them. In his last Consultant 360 degree Appraisal (2024), all patients surveyed rated their satisfaction of Dr Taggart's service in the top category of very good. Similarly all of his colleagues surveyed also rated him across 19 domains as either very good or excellent everything he does. Dr Taggart was awarded a certificate for excellence in care In July 2019 from the patient feedback organisation iWantGreat Care.
These days, Dr Taggart delivers his service solely on a private basis having retired from the NHS in March 2022. As such he holds 3 private clinics per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons) with Wednesday reserved for remote Zoom consultations. Please note I no longer perform bronchoscopy or thoracoscopy work and refer onto other specialists.
