About me

We will be a good fit if you are interested in :

– A collaborative approach to therapy
– A professional who challenges you and is engaged and doesn’t sit back and nod
– Exploring your concerns with an open mind
– Learning how your life circumstances (both positive and negative) have shaped you
– Practicing evidence-based strategies (e.g. strategies that have been found to work) in an easily understandable and accessible way
– Gaining perspective or connecting with greater meaning in life, including deepening your understanding of yourself, your values, and relationships
– Discretion and a confidential service

When you choose a Psychologist, the most important factor is that you find one that you are comfortable with and want to work with. Please have a look at my videos to see if you think we will be a good fit.

I have been practicing as a Counselling Psychologist for over 20 years. Counselling Psychologists treat people by examining their experiences and exploring the underlying issues. We understand diagnosis and medical context, but deal with the person before us and their personal life circumstances in a range of mental illness and mental wellness issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma.

I’ve practiced in Australia and England. I’ve worked in a range of settings including for the National Health Service (NHS), courts and prisons, schools, corporate settings, and many years in private practice.

My undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications have been accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) – so you can feel comfortable that I have an appropriate academic background. As a Psychologist, I am registered by the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) – which ensures that I adhere to good practice, relate to the scientific literature, and provide research-based treatment. Further, to maintain my good standing, I regularly complete continuing professional development. In the past, I served the BPS on the London and Home Counties committee.

The Blackbird Clinic takes its name from The Beatles song, Blackbird, where the titular bird takes its broken wings and learns to fly because all its life, “you were only waiting for this moment to arise”.

At The Blackbird Clinic, we believe that recovery from adversity stimulates people to grow and to fulfil their full potential. Our job is to help people to get back on their feet as quickly as possible and give them the tools to feel confident about their future.

We have two comfortable, climate-controlled, light-filled locations for face-to-face meetings

– Shoreditch: Yellow door, 8 Cleeve Workshops, Off Boundary St, E2 7JD. Close to Shoreditch Overground Station, Box Park and St Leonard’s Church.

– Bishopsgate: Longcroft House, 2-8 Victoria Ave, London, EC2M 4NS. Close to Liverpool St Station, Bishopsgate.

Videoconferencing appointments are also available – so you could have your appointment in the comfort of your home or office.
