About me
I’m Dr Sian McKenzie and I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Exeter in 2008. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council and am eligible for Chartership status with the British Psychological Society. I have worked within NHS community and inpatient settings within adults and children.
I worked within adult mental health services for a number of years before working in paediatrics with a range of health conditions. I am passionate about supporting and helping children and adults.
I use evidence-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. I am also trained to offer Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) as well as trauma focused CBT. These models and skills mean that I have experience of treating a range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, OCD, low self esteem, eating disorders, self harm, depression, trauma, bereavement and loss.
I draw from a broad range of therapy models and integrate these within my work with clients. I believe in developing a strong therapeutic relationship and alliance to develop the best therapy approach which suits and works well for clients.
