About me
I am an experienced general adult consultant psychiatrist. I am a fellow of the royal college of psychiatrists. I am a medical doctor not a psychologist.
My expertise is to provide assessment and treatment for wide range of psychiatric disorders, including:
Anxiety, phobias, and obsessive compulsive disorder
Depression
Schizophrenia
Adult ADHD
Bipolar Affective Disorder
Alcohol Misuse and Dependence
Opiate Misuse and Dependence (opiate substitute treatment including Buvidal depot injection)
Stimulants Misuse (Cocaine and Amphetamine misuse)
Co-morbid Disorders (dual diagnosis)
I studied medicine in Alexandria medical school, Egypt in 1983 and obtained a diploma in neuropsychiatry in 1990 from Ain Shams University, Egypt. Following that, from 1990 until 1995, I worked as a Specialist in Psychiatry at Behman Psychiatric Hospital in Egypt, the largest private hospital in the Middle East.
I moved to the UK in 1995, where I completed my psychiatric training at St. George’s rotation. Furthermore, I obtained an MSc in addictive behaviour at St. George’s medical school in 2002 then I obtained the membership of the royal college of psychiatrists. I was awarded the fellowship of the royal college of psychiatrists for actively improving the quality of care, safety and clinical outcome of my patients.
I worked as a Clinical Lead Consultant in Psychiatry at the NHS and independent sector in Cambridge from 2008 to 2013. I am currently working as a Regional Clinical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist in at Change, Grow, and Live (CGL):
I have more than 30 years experience of treating patients with mental health issues. My approach focuses not only on prescribing medication, but also take into consideration the psychological and the social aspect of any condition. I work with multidisciplinary team to achieve an understanding of person strengths and weaknesses and set up goals to achieve a full recovery. I strongly believe that every patient has specific needs and their unique circumstances should be taken into consideration in treatment plan.
