About me

I qualified from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School with its highest undergraduate award, the Broderip Scholarship.

My initial surgical training was at Whipps Cross then Chase Farm Hospital, followed by Specialist Registrar rotation in Urology in the Oxford region. During this time I was awarded a prestigious one year Hunterian Professorship for my research into the blood supply to bladder cancers and disruption mechanisms.

My special interest is in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for benign and malignant urology conditions . I have pioneered robotic surgery in Reading, both clinically, performing over 250 radical prostatectomies and also by leading the ‘Robbie the Robot Appeal’. This appeal which raises fund to support the Da Vinci robot has recently passed the £1M mark. I have also worked on the European Robotic Urology Symposium helping to train robotic surgeons of the future.
In recognition of his clinical and fundraising robotic work Adam was awarded the Pride of Reading – Healthcare Worker of the Year 2012 Award.


In conjunction with Paul Rogers (oncologist) I have helped to build up the prostate brachytherapy service in Reading to be one of the busiest ‘real time’ centres in Europe with over 600 patients treated.

I think that working in a unit with expertise in both brachytherapy and robotic surgery is uncommon in the UK and means our patients really do get a genuine choice of treatments for their prostate problems."
