About me

Mr Jeyaseelan is passionate about helping patients suffering with pain and disability caused by foot and ankle (F&A) conditions. He is an experienced, fellowship trained Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University London (QMUL). He specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle care including complex trauma, deformity correction, minimally invasive surgery and sports injuries. He has a particular interest in ankle arthritis and total ankle replacement.

Mr Jeyaseelan completed his training on the prestigious Percivall Pott Rotation in London, ranking top in the selection process. Throughout this time, he worked at highly regarded centres of excellence including The Royal London Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He was awarded numerous prizes, including the John Fixsen Memorial prize on two occasions for his research. He subsequently undertook a specialist fellowship at The University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, working with the design surgeons of one of the most commonly used total ankle replacements, learning techniques in custom 3D printed prostheses, patient specific instrumentation and revision surgery.

Mr Jeyaseelan has been awarded The Singhal Travelling Fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association, an AO specialist trauma fellowship in Ohio and multiple travelling fellowship awards from the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS), visiting centres of excellence including The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard) in Boston and units across Europe. He has completed an executive programme in Healthcare Leadership & Management at the Carey Business School, Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore.

Mr Jeyaseelan’s NHS practice is based at the internationally renowned Barts Health NHS Trust, which includes one of the busiest trauma units in Europe, The Royal London Hospital. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Foot & Ankle Committee at SICOT and sits on the Orthopaedic Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the Evidence Based Medicine Committee of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS). He is also a Co-Opted Member of the Royal College of Physicians, working with the National Guideline Centre, offering orthopaedic expertise in developing NICE guidance.

As an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at QMUL and Orthopaedic Surgical Tutor at Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre, Mr Jeyaseelan enjoys training and mentoring future generations of orthopaedic surgeons. He is Chair of the award winning, Fundamentals of Orthopaedics Series, a virtual platform supporting the development of aspiring orthopaedic surgeons. He teaches on a number of courses for senior trainees and is faculty on advanced courses in foot and ankle trauma. He maintains a keen research interest with numerous peer-reviewed publications and international presentations on a wide range of foot and ankle conditions. He regularly gives international lectures and has contributed to a number of speciality textbooks.

Mr Jeyaseelan believes in an individualised approach to patient care. Using state of the art diagnostics, combined with a multidisciplinary team approach, he tailors treatments to the specific needs of his patients.
Outside of work, you will find Mr Jeyaseelan spending time with his young family and engrossed in the latest sporting events.
