About me
Mr Habib Tafazal is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with 5 years post CCT experience.
He integrates plastic surgical techniques with breast cancer surgery to preserve and enhance aesthetic outcomes without compromising disease control following partial or complete removal of the breast.
He has undertaken specialist training in breast cancer and reconstructive surgery and completed an Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship in the West Midlands, UK during the latter years of his higher surgical training.
Mr Tafazal’s specialist area is exclusively breast care, breast cancer surgery and all breast related problems.
Before completing his medical school training he was awarded a BSc for a degree in Biomedical Science. He completed his medical training from Leicester- Warwick Medical School in 2005 and undertook his surgical training at a number of prestigious hospitals in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr Tafazal deals with both benign and malignant breast conditions. His breast cancer work involves treating patients identified through the symptomatic and screening service. He has experience in the use of implants for reconstruction and has used a variety of smooth, textured and polyurethane coated implants.
He uses biological meshes for implant based reconstruction and offers patients both pre-pectoral and sub-pectoral breast reconstruction. In his role as a consultant Dr Tafazal has introduced the use of a complete dermal sling for pre-pectoral implant based breast reconstruction at his hospital. This omits the use of biological meshes in certain cases. He has also performed a number of Goldilocks reconstructions using the patients own mastectomy skin flap to form a breast mound. He has developed this further by performing a perforator flap alongside the Goldilocks procedure in select patients.
Mr Tafazal has been trained in lipomodelling and uses this as an adjunct to other reconstructive techniques. Mr Tafazal has also been trained in performing partial and complete breast reconstructions using the patients own tissue and muscle (LD reconstruction) or tissue alone (LICAP, LTAP, AICAP, MICAP).
Mr Tafazal was recently awarded an Outstanding Achievement award for his work in Breast Surgery and the care he offers to patients. In addition to this he had been instrumental in developing a community Breast Pain Clinic for which he has also received recognition.
