About me

About me
My name is David Nia and I am offering therapy and training services. I work mostly with first responders, such as police officers and police staff, as a trauma therapist using EMDR and a PolyVagal approach.

The polyvagal approach focuses on calming the nervous system, alongside methods such as EMDR, in treating stress and trauma related symptoms in the quickest and most effective way.

I am EMDR qualified, as well as an integrated therapist, which means I use a range of techniques to treat issues based around stress, trauma, anxiety, depression and bereavement. In order for me to practice EMDR I have to be an accredited therapist with the BACP. This ensures both experience and quality of practice. Please make sure anyone offering EMDR has accredited status with the BACP.

I currently use EMDR both face to face or online. If online I use a remote application that allows the same, if not better interaction between client and therapist, as face to face. This means you will receive the same high standard of therapy, but in the safety and comfort of you own home, especially in these times of COVID19. The application allows for visual and auditory BLS (Bilateral stimulation) using your laptop and headphones.

Face to face I have equipment to provide BLS (Bilateral stimulation) in the form of a light bar, headphones and tactile stimulators to be held in the hand. All three methods provide bilateral stimulation to the brain to help process difficult or traumatic memories.

I am also a Relate qualified therapist, which means I also work with couples and families using relationship therapy. I also work together with my wife Rebecca Nia using conjoint couple therapy, where as a couple, we work with other couples offering therapy individually and together. This type of therapy has many advantages over individual couple therapy, in that each participant has an advocate in the session and when needed, someone of their own gender, who you may feel has a better understanding of your needs.

We will provide a video on this soon but please contact us if you have any questions and we can provide a free consultation if needed.

Rebecca Nia also works with adults, children and families - 07532 754733
