About me

Frist degree in Medicine was in University of Dublin 1984, and trained to Registrar level till 1989, when I moved to the Specialist Training program in University College Hospital London. I was appointed Consultant haematologist in 1996 in Basildon Hospital, and transferred as head of dept to Southend Hospital in 2010 which remains my main employment. I became Clinical Director for Diagnostic and Therapeutic in Southend Hospital in 2015 and continued in this role till April 2018. I have a broad experience in all things haematological, but particular interests in lymphoma and myeloma. I am a strong believer in listening to my patients, and advising treatments tailored to their needs. My research interests are in lymphoma, and I have a strong interest in developing biopsy devices - for bone marrow and lymph nodes.

Areas of interest

I have 28 years broad experience as a Consultant haematologist, having trained on the University College London specialist training rotation and am currently head of Haematology Dept in Southend University Hospitals NHS Trust and former Clinical Director for Diagnostics and Therapeutics. I have a particular interest in Malignant Haematology - such as myeloma or lymphoma, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, and myelodysplasia and also an interest in thrombosis management and general haematology
