About me

Hi, I'm Sasha! I'm a clinical psychologist who works with children and young people, parents, and families.

My experience

?I have over 15 years' experience of working in the NHS, in a variety of psychology and mental health services for children and adults. I have been working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for over 10 years, including adolescent inpatient and adolescent forensic services; community CAMHS; a specialist team for Looked After Children; and within primary and secondary schools.

?I have a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Conversion Diploma in Psychology. Prior to that, having grown up in London, I gained an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and worked in media, film and publishing before deciding to retrain as a clinical psychologist.

In addition to my NHS and private work, I am also a psychologist consultant for the children's publisher Usborne. I have contributed to various book titles including the award-winning Why Do Things Die?, What Are Feelings?, How Can I Be Kind? and Why Should I Share? (to name a few - more in the pipeline!)

?What will happen when you meet with me?

?When we first meet, it will be a chance for us to start to get to know each other; for me to hear a bit about you and your family; and how things are for you at the moment. We will then think together about what might be most helpful for you, moving forwards. Depending on what we agree, I might offer individual sessions to children and young people; sessions for parents and carers on their own; and/or sessions for family members together.

?How do I work?

I use an integrative approach, depending on what fits best for my clients. This can include aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Practice, Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, and psychodynamic approaches. I have a particular interest in attachment-based work and in the relationships between family members.

?How can I help?

I have lots of experience in helping children and young people and their families with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relationship issues, including low mood, depression and anxiety; anger management and emotional regulation; self harm; difficulties within the family, with friends or at school; the impact of stressful events and past trauma; and difficulties adjusting to major life events such as bereavement, separation/divorce, blended family/stepfamily/adoptive family dynamics, and other changes in the family or environment. I have extensive experience of individual and group work with parents and carers, and am particularly interested in helping clients to navigate the challenges of parenting, alongside my work with young people.
