About me
Dr Elinor Sason – Counselling Psychologist
I am a Chartered and HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist and clinical supervisor with experience in the NHS (as Principal Counselling Psychologist at an acute unit), private and charitable mental health settings.
I adopt a pluralistic approach meaning that I do not believe there is one universally right theory or model but rather, that a range of theories and models can be helpful and effective. These include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Systemic. It is therefore essential to utilise those which meet each client’s needs and have evidence base. Additionally, at the heart of my work, is a belief that the therapeutic relationship is key, and I am passionate about offering a space in which that can flourish. Moreover, in offering you a non-judgemental, compassionate, highly skilled, individualised and holistic therapeutic approach, I aim to support and empower you to explore and work through a variety of issues.
Clinical areas of interest: depression, anxiety and panic disorders, bereavement, family and relationship difficulties, trauma, biopolar disorder, personality disorders, survivors of childhood abuse. My private practice is in Great Bookham and the surroundings areas in which I supervise practitioners and provide psychological therapy to individuals. I also have experience working with young children, adolescents both in groups and individually.
Areas of interest
Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Relationships Difficulties, Eating Disorders.
