About me
My junior posts were in the Professorial Medical and Cardiology Units of Cardiff, Nottingham and Newcastle. I trained in clinical cardiology as a registrar in Edinburgh, focussing on electrophysiology and cardiac ablation from 1994. I undertook a PhD at the University of Glasgow, subsequently being appointed Senior Registrar specialising in electrophysiology and devices at Glasgow Teaching Hospitals. I was appointed Consultant Cardiologist in Lincolnshire/Visiting Consultant in Glenfield Hospital Leicester in 2000. Glenfield was one of the largest Electrophysiology units in the UK.
I was subsequently appointed Consultant at University Hospital North Staffordshire in 2005, being lead consultant for Cardiac Devices and Electrophysiology for 5 years.
I undertake 3-4 ablations and 4-6 cardiac device implants per week, and have a major clinical interest in syncope and inherited cardiac conditions.
