About me

Ian Currie is an international recognised clinician with over 30 years' experience in delivering healthcare to women. In 2011 he was elected the Vice President of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists based at the RCOG in London and served until 2017. This highly prestigious post was one of the key posts within the specialty of Gynaecology in the UK and ensures that he is at the forefront of clinical expertise in his field of work.

He is well known both locally and nationally for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence and vaginal reconstructive surgery. He also has a large general gynaecology practice that includes the treatment of menstrual disorders (heavy and painful periods), endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids and menopause. He is often referred complex clinical problems from far afield

He was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 1997 where he held the post of the Divisional Chair for Women & Children's Services.

He was on the national guideline development group for the NICE incontinence guidelines which form the basis of management for this condition across the UK. Over the last few years he has lectured and taught in many countries such as India, Somaliland, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt and Jordan.
