About me

I am a Consultant Cardiologist with over 38 years of experience in medicine, including more than 30 years in cardiology and 21 years at consultant level. I specialise in the management of cardiology emergencies, outpatient care, and a broad range of cardiac investigations.

I treat a variety of heart conditions, including angina; heart attacks; coronary artery disease; heart failure; atrial fibrillation/flutter; arrhythmia's; high cholesterol and blood pressure. I perform diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterisation (angiograms), and I am experienced in implanting internal loop recorders and both single- and dual-chamber permanent pacemakers. My team and I also provide comprehensive cardiac investigations and treatments, including angioplasty and coronary artery bypass surgery.

In addition, I offer cardiovascular risk assessments, lifestyle modification advice, and preventive care to help patients manage and reduce their risk factors.

I have been involved in important research, including �1.5 million in funding from the NHS and �440,000 from the British Heart Foundation. Other research has helped investigate the effectiveness of a new cardiac transplant technique. As the founder of the Heart Specialist Clinic Ltd, I offer personalised care for private patients, tailoring treatments to individual needs.

I am honoured to have been a TEDx speaker and to have received four Clinical Excellence Awards. I have also received several accolades, including the McEwan Prize, recognition in the Northern Asian Power List 2020 (Top 100), and a Career Recognition Award in 2023 from Easy E-Money, presented by Sir Martin Edwards of Manchester United.

Giving back is important to me; I am actively involved in charity work and serve as a trustee for two hospital charities. I have also appeared in various media, including TV interviews and radio shows.
