About me

I have been a Consultant Cardiologist since 2000 and have extensive experience in general cardiology. I am able to treat patients with angina, heart attacks, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, cardiac rhythm disorders, hypertension and raised cholesterol.

I lead the Heart Failure Service and the Cardiac Devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy) Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

I also have a special interest in cardiac imaging, including cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and echocardiography.

I am Professor of Cardiology at Aston University Medical School where I lead cardiac research.

I am past President of the British Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and have been a clinical adviser to the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) on the national guidelines for Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices.
