About me
I have been providing therapy within the NHS and private sector for over 10 years. I have worked across the full spectrum of client groups and helped people to overcome a wide range of difficulties.
As a Doctor of Clinical Psychology I am trained in multiple different approaches and work with my clients to customise therapy to best suit their specific needs and personalities. I specialise in helping people to manage anxiety using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and helping people deal with traumatic experiences using EMDR.
My Doctorate and professional research experience also mean that I am familiar with the latest research and evidence based practices.
I believe in a positive, person centred approach to psychology which emphasises people's strengths and resources, and focuses not on labels, but on helping people to live the best life they possibly can.
I believe that psychological distress is something that can, and does, happen to anyone who finds themselves in a difficult situation. Even though we might feel highly distressed or overwhelmed, this does not mean that it is our fault or there is something wrong with us. It also does not mean we cannot do something about it. I believe both that life is extremely difficult at times and that people have what it takes to cope with it, even if they sometimes need some extra support.
I offer a free, brief telephone consultation where I can answer any questions people might have about how therapy works and how it might help.
