About me

Mr Thomas White is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and is a Specialist in surgery of the Hip and Knee. After qualifying from Bristol Medical School in 2005 he completed his postgraduate training at various central London teaching hospitals, including Kings College Hospital, Guys and St Thomas' Hospital and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. He then undertook two internationally recognised sub-specialist fellowships in complex hip and knee surgery, first as the 'Pelvic and Arthroplasty Fellow' at St Georges Hospital, a major tertiary referral centre for pelvic trauma and complex revision hip and knee replacements. He then moved to Perth, Western Australia to undertake the internationally accredited 'Allograft Fellowship', learning the latest techniques in primary and revision hip and knee surgery at the two busiest orthopaedic units in Western Australia.

On his return from Australia, Mr White was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Since his appointment in 2018 he has established a busy hip and knee arthroplasty practice and is Lead for Revision Hip and Knee Surgery. He regularly collaborates with colleagues at other hospitals in the regional network. In 2020 he was appointed Honorary Consultant at Guys and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust, where he operates on complex cases.

Mr White also maintains a busy trauma practice at University Hospital Lewisham where he specialises in complex fractures of the hip and knee. He was appointed Lead for Clinical Governance in 2018 and Lead for Trauma in 2020.

Mr White has a keen interest in education. He supervises the training of medical students, junior doctors and consultant orthopaedic surgeons in training and is regularly invited to teach on Royal College fellowship training courses. He has published extensively in the orthopaedic literature, and presents his work nationally and internationally.
