About me
Mr Lawrence Okiror is a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon with practicing privileges at London Bridge Hospital and The Lister Hospital in Chelsea. His NHS practice is at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He trained in cardiothoracic surgery in London (Royal Brompton and Guy’s Hospitals) and the West Midlands.
He is the recipient of a number of national awards for his original research work.
He has published >30 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals in thoracic surgery and authored a number of book chapters in reference textbooks in thoracic surgery.
Areas of interest
He offers a comprehensive general thoracic surgery service. His areas of expertise include; 1. minimally-invasive surgery (robotic and VATS); radical surgery for mesothelioma; surgery advanced chest cancers. He leads the central airways service at GSTT & works closely with colleagues to manage some of the most complex airway problems including floppy windpipe, cancers involving the windpipe, benign conditions of the windpipe.
He is service lead for lung volume reduction & offers both surgery and bronchoscopy and valves to treat advanced emphysema COPD
