About me
Miss Sarah McMahon is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in paediatric lower limb problems.
She was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Free in 2019, before taking up her current NHS consultant post at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Miss McMahon works closely with her multidisciplinary team, and her superb practise manager Miss Crichton, to deliver evidence based, child centred care.
Her super-specialist area is limb reconstruction and limb lengthening with external frames and internal lengthening nails, but she treats all conditions including fractures, with the exception of skull and spine, DDH, Cerebral Palsy, Blounts, Club Foot, Flat feet and Tarsal Coalitions.
Sarah does not specialise in knee arthroscopy (keyhole procedures)
She graduated from UCL Medical School in 2003 with a medical degree, a Distinction in Anatomy and Developmental Biology, and an additional First Class Honours degree.
She trained in London and Edinburgh, before her surgical rotations at St Bartholomew's Hospital and The Royal London Hospital which gave her an incredible grounding in children's orthopaedics, Major Trauma, and deformity correction.
After completion her surgical training she undertook subspecialty Fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and King's College Hospital.
In a former life she trained showjumpers and played College Tennis in the NCAA first division in the USA. She lives in London with her family.
She has private clinic every Tuesday and operates alternate Wednesday afternoons at the Portland Hospital for Women and Children, in parallel to her NHS consultancy.
